Oisans, with its 100 square kilometres of
glacier, rises to almost 4000 metres , between the rivers Romanche and
Drac. Its highest peaks are Les Ecrins ( 4102 m ), Le Pelvoux ( 3946 m
), La Meije ( 3983 m ).
L'Alpe d'Huez and Les 2 Alpes are both international resorts. In winter and summer, they offer visitors immense ski areas.
Bourg d'Oisans, at the entrance to Les Ecrins national park, is the centre of holiday activity. It stands at the intersection of six valleys - Eau d'Olle, Ferrand, Lignarre, Romanche, Sarenne and Vénéon.
La Bérarde ( 1738 m ) is a rallying point for mountaineers.
Les Ecrins national park extends over 91 800 hectares of land, offering a large number of routes for walking from refuge to refuge.
