Sud Dauphiné straddles the most westerly
outcrop of the Alps. It offers a remarkably diverse mosaic of natural
formations. With its relatively accessible mountains, picturesque
landscapes, reputedly very healthy climate, lakes and good food, this
is an ideal destination for lovers of open countryside and all the
pleasures of medium altitude mountains.
However there are lesser known but equally beautiful areas - the Trièves and Matheysine plateaux, the lakes south of Laffrey, and Le Beaumont that crowns the sanctuary at La Salette.
