The diversity of the longstanding links between industry, universities and research has given rise to several key programmes in Grenoble-Isère. With backing from the local authorities the various players have joined forces to develop emerging technologies.
Grenoble-Isère, a model competitivity centre, is involved in two of France's global centres:
It is also involved in five centres of international standing: Tenerrdis, Axelera, Techtera, Lyon Urban Truck & Bus, Digital Leisure Activities.
The determination to give all industrial sectors the benefit of technological innovation and thus boost their competitivity has led to the launch of several initiatives such as:
Minalogic: micro-smart devices
Minalogic brings together more than 50 partners working in industry, research and higher education, with support from local and regional authorities. At the end of 2005 they set up the Minalogic Partners organization.
LyonBiopole, an international centre of excellence in diagnostics and vaccines taking place in Grenoble and Lyon. Diagnostics and vaccines as a shield against infectious disease, the first steps towards personalised medicine.
Tenerrdis: Technologies for the Renewable Energies in Rhône-Alpes Drôme, Isère and Savoie (Tenerrdis) centre, for the development of new energy technologies
"To switch from chemicals manufacture that seeks to mitigate its impacts to avant-garde manufacturing techniques that integrate environmental concerns from the start of design".
This is the objective set by the initiators of Axelera, all actively involved in the chemical industry, training, research or the environment in Rhône-Alpes, who have joined forces to set up a competitivity centre with a common vision.
Techtera: Technical Textiles Rhône-Alpes
Technical, functional textiles
Techtera aims to encourage innovation, streamline collaboration between manufacturers of technical, functional textiles, and research and training centres in Rhône-Alpes, and facilitate business access to public subsidies.
The five-year alliance concerns STMicroelectronics, Freescale and Philips, all three global industrial leaders in the research and development of semiconductor technologies.
Minatec: Europe's top centre of excellence in micro and nanotechnology.
Started by France's Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) and Grenoble-INP, with support from local and national authorities, Minatec is the leading centre in Europe and one of the top centres worldwide specializing in micro and nanotechnology.
Nano2Life is the first European network of excellence recognized by the European Commission under the 6th Framework Programme for Research and Development.
A continuous platform of R&D competences from genes to the living organism
An international network of researchers and companies to fight against cancer.
