Tenerrdis: Technologies for the Renewable Energies in Rhône-Alpes Drôme, Isère and Savoie (Tenerrdis) centre, for the development of new energy technologies

Context

Tenerrdis draws on the Rhône-Alpes region's renewable energy resources:

  • Solar power (France's leading region in this sector)
  • Biomass (France's second-most important region for forestry)
  • Hydro-electric power (France's leading region in this sector)

Tenerrdis focuses on the production and transformation of these energy sources in energy vectors (electricity, heat, hydrogen and biofuels), and their use in building and transport.

Objectives

The objective of the Enerrdis competitivity centre is to develop the entire value-added chain of new energy technologies. It aims to contribute to:

  • Meeting major challenges regarding energy self-sufficiency in building and transport;
  • Developing companies in new energy technology and fostering the emergence of new companies;
  • Creating new jobs.

Programmes

Five Tenerrdis programmes cover the whole energy sector, targeting high-growth consumer markets.

  • Solar power and building: optimize overall energy management in buildings by improving their energy efficiency and using solar-powered (photovoltaic) electricity and heat, from hot water, heating, heat pumps and air-conditioning.
  • Network management: improve the efficiency and dependability of energy distribution networks, taking into account the diversity of sources, with scope for consumers to sell electricity.
  • Biomass: obtain fuel, electricity and hydrogen from thermo-chemical processing of forestry biomass.
  • Hydrogen and fuel cells: develop clean transport systems powered by fuel cells and hydrogen, using renewable energy sources (electrolysis, biomass gas) to produce hydrogen.
  • Hydro-electric power: increase the efficiency of equipment, improve control and management of water resources, promote new technology concepts, meet standards and establish a position in big international markets.
