Nanobio’s originality lies in the fact that it brings together researchers from different disciplines – engineers, biologists, physicists, chemists and medical doctors – to develop new miniaturized tools (biochips, lab-on-chips, biosensors) to improve the analysis, diagnosis and treatment of numerous diseases.
NanoBio is a federation of research (over 300 researchers working in biology, chemistry, electronics, etc.) and training organizations, and firms operating in and around Grenoble. It was set up to function in synergy with Minatec and is based at three main sites:
These advanced technologies hold the promise of a wide range of applications including medical diagnosis, the development of new drugs, supervision of diet, bacterial analysis of water, diagnosis outside the laboratory, etc. In the foreseeable future the market for nanobiotechnology R&D should exceed several billion euros.
