The paper industry has been an integral part of the Isère economy for several centuries.
The Isère department is Europe's leading centre for research and education in papermarking technology.
Ecole Française de Papeterie et des Industries Graphiques which is unique in France, is one of the nine engineering schools that make up Grenoble-INP.
Centre Technique du Papier is the leading "collective" research centre in France, and associated with INPG, the second largest in Europe.
